Terms and Conditions
These terms apply to every pet care booking with WePetSit South Africa. Please read them before you book.
Last updated: 25 October 2026
1. About these terms
These terms apply between you (the client) and WePetSit South Africa ("WePetSit", "we", "us"), Durbanville, Cape Town. They apply to every booking of our pet care services and to your use of this website. By submitting a booking enquiry or accepting our services, you agree to these terms.
For each assignment you will also sign our standard service agreement. If anything in that agreement differs from these terms, the signed agreement applies to that assignment.
2. Our services
We provide in-home pet care by pet sitters who are Level 1 Certified by The Pet Sitter Institute of South Africa (PSI SA): single and double daily visits, day-overs, sleep-overs, full live-in care, and hourly care and dog walking, as described on our Our Services page.
Bookings are limited and are subject to the availability and compatibility of our Certified Pet Sitters.
3. Enquiries, meet and greets and confirmation
- Sending an enquiry does not confirm a booking. Our Team will contact you to discuss your requirements.
- A meet and greet (interview) with your pet sitter is mandatory before we accept an assignment, for peace of mind for all parties. Interviews are free within a 10 km radius of a local pet sitter; a fee may apply further away.
- Your booking is confirmed once the required payment has been received (see section 4).
4. Fees and payment
- Fees are as per our current service list, valid from 1 February 2026 to 31 January 2027. Additional levies may be charged for non-local (+10 km) pet care, specific requirements, and when the number of pets exceeds 5 in total. Not VAT applicable.
- All pet care assignments must be fully paid 3 to 5 days before the service begins. For stay-over bookings, a 50% to 100% deposit is required 15 to 30 days in advance to secure the pet sitter service.
- Payments are made directly to the assigned pet sitter. EFT, cash, SnapScan and Zapper are accepted.
5. Cancellations and refunds
Once the required amount for booking confirmation is received, the following cancellation policies apply to safeguard the pet sitter's income:
- Daily visits: client cancels before commencement: 80% refundable.
- Stay-over services: client cancels on the day of commencement: 0% refundable; 3 days before commencement: 20% refundable; 4 to 15 days before commencement: 40% refundable; 15 days before commencement: 70% refundable.
6. Your responsibilities
- Give us complete and accurate information about your pets, including health, medication, behaviour, any aggression, and "power breeds".
- Make sure your pet sitter understands your lock-up, alarm arming and disarming requirements, and has the keys and remotes they need.
- Leave enough food, medication and supplies for the full assignment, and give us an emergency contact and your vet's details.
7. Aggressive pets and the right to decline
We do not provide care for aggressive pets, or in locations deemed unsafe for our pet sitters. Pet sitters reserve the right to decline a care request at their discretion, including at the interview. If a sitter declines, we will make every effort to find a suitable alternative pet sitter. If an assignment is accepted, you may be liable for any acts of aggression by your pets towards the sitter.
8. Keys and home security
Key arrangements are agreed at the interview. Keys and remotes can be handed over at the meeting or a day before the assignment, or you may use a lockbox or a neighbour. Pet sitters follow the alarm and safety protocols you provide. Keys and remotes are returned in a safe, timely manner, or as agreed.
9. Emergencies and veterinary care
If your pet is ill or injured, your pet sitter will try to contact you (or your emergency contact) straight away. If they cannot reach you, you authorise the sitter to take your pet to your vet, or the nearest available vet, for treatment. Veterinary and transport costs are for your account.
10. Liability and insurance
Every assignment is covered by WePetSit's internal insurance. WePetSit is not liable for loss or damage caused by events beyond a pet sitter's reasonable control, or by information the client did not disclose (for example a pet's health, behaviour or aggression, or the home's alarm and access arrangements).
11. Satisfaction guarantee
Satisfaction guaranteed or your money back. If you are not satisfied with a pet care service, tell us within 7 days of the assignment ending. We will investigate, and if the service did not meet our standards, we will refund the affected portion of the fee.
12. Your personal information
We use your personal information only as described in our Privacy Notice.
13. General
We may update these terms from time to time; the version on this page applies to new bookings. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
